Return of Adam

This artwork is inspired by Michelangelo’s iconic painting, The Creation of Adam, which I see symbolically as chapter one of our chronological existence. The event that is celebrated and admired. But what about death and the emotions that are attached with it? Does it have to be dark and concealed? I see my painting Return of Adam, as a beautiful ending to the mysterious saga of what we call ‘life.’ Death is our inevitable truth; we can choose to ignore it, but cannot deny it. If coming from Him is a reason to celebrate, then returning back to Him is only going ‘home.’ The painting focuses on a heavy moment of saying goodbye to a loved one, with an elderly bruised hand, still cladded with a ring, trying to hold on this material world.
